PS-SF’s outreach team has spent the past two weeks calling to check in with families to see how they are doing during this time. Of the families we have spoken with, most are struggling to balance childcare and work, and to understand and implement distance learning with their children. Many have needs related to food, financial assistance, internet access and housing. We have been working one-on-one to connect families with resources

Extending the Conversation: Supporting Social & Emotional Learning During COVID-19
The chapter is also continuing a conversation that began at its annual meeting. We heard from many participants that they wished for more time to talk about practical tips for supporting social and emotional learning at home and discuss challenges and strategies with other parents and caregivers. Join us to connect with other parents to discuss why social-emotional learning is so important in our schools and how we can continue to support our kids’ social-emotional competencies at home. Participants have a chance to share with each other about what is working for their families and what challenges they and their students are experiencing during shelter in place.
