Tanya a PTA President and a PEP graduate, and Paul, also a PEP grad from a neighboring community, have collaborated to offer political forums on choosing school board candidates as well as offering monthly Parent University events where topics ranging from bullying to the School to Prison Pipeline are covered. Tanya has also used her advocacy skills to encourage other parents in her community to contact their state legislators about pending legislation and school funding issues. Tanya and Paul believe what PPS teaches, that parents are the owners of their public schools and, as such, have a responsibility to see that all children receive a quality education.
