Jackson, MS – Parents for Public Schools® (PPS) is proud to announce that Jarred Gibson, Director of Organizational Advancement, has been selected as a Spring 2026 Fellow in the Institute for Educational Leadership’s (IEL) Education Policy Fellowship Program™ (EPFP). Gibson joins 86 leaders from 30 states and Washington, D.C. chosen to participate in IEL’s leadership development initiative focused on strengthening education policy and advocacy nationwide.

Founded in 1964, EPFP has prepared more than 12,000 alumni to lead and influence education policy at the local, state, and federal levels. The program is designed to build the capacity of education and community leaders to drive meaningful change through policy development, grassroots advocacy, and strategic engagement.

With nearly two decades of experience championing educational equity, Gibson brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for public education to this pivotal leadership opportunity. In his current role as Director of Organizational Advancement, he is responsible for identifying and cultivating partnerships with mission-aligned organizations, working alongside the Executive Director to establish fundraising objectives, and supporting PPS’s national network of parent advocates.

The EPFP curriculum emphasizes grassroots advocacy planning, policy and root-cause analysis, political and asset mapping, coalition-building, and strategies for effectively engaging policymakers. Fellows will also explore the federal education policy landscape, national partnerships, and the intersection of federal branches in shaping education law.

Of this prestigious honor, Gibson states, “I’m honored to be a part of IEL’s Education Policy Fellowship Program!  PPS works with parents and community members across the country, and I’m excited to bring new resources and strategies to help strengthen their policy and advocacy work.

Gibson’s selection reflects PPS’s continued commitment to strengthening public education through informed advocacy, strategic partnerships, and leadership development.
