Jackson, MS – Parents for Public Schools® (PPS) is excited to announce that Jarred Gibson has been appointed as the organization’s Director of Organizational Advancement. This is a newly created position for PPS and a new role for Jarred who previously served as the North Carolina Project Manager for PPS.
With nearly two decades of experience championing educational equity, Gibson brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for public education to this pivotal leadership role. “PPS National had a need for someone to focus on the resources needed to further develop a network of public school advocates,” said Joann Mickens, Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools. “I believe Jarred’s personal characteristics, work experience and ability to navigate today’s education landscape will serve us well.”
As the Director of Organizational Advancement, Jarred will also be responsible for identifying and connecting with organizations whose missions align with PPS, working with the executive director to establish fundraising objectives for the organization, and supporting the network of parent advocates. Of this new assignment, Gibson stated, “Parents for Public Schools is deeply rooted in communities across the country, and because there’s always strength in numbers, I’m excited to support our chapters and partners by working more closely with like-minded national coalitions and identifying opportunities for us to expand our impact.”
