Thank you for standing with Mississippi’s students, families, and educators. Your advocacy and support were instrumental in empowering a bipartisan group of legislators to listen to their constituents and vote NO on House Bill 2—the dangerous and deeply unpopular school choice bill that narrowly passed the House earlier this month.
These lawmakers chose accountability, transparency, and the common good over political pressure. Unfortunately, they are now being targeted by out-of-state voucher lobbyists who have no stake in Mississippi’s communities or schools. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and it underscores exactly why local voices matter most. Please take a moment to thank the legislators who stood up for the public schools that serve the majority of Mississippi’s students. You can find their contact information here. Your encouragement matters—especially now.
Once again, thank you for standing with public schools. Your continued support reminds our legislators that Mississippi’s public schools, and the people who defend them, are worth the fight.
With gratitude,
Joann Mickens
