How does PPS help parents and, in some cases, change lives? Ask Maria and her husband AJ, both graduates of the PPS Parent Engagement Program (PEP). After learning about Mississippi’s 3rd grade reading gate, they reached out to AJ’s son’s mom to make sure AJ’s 7 year old was getting the interventions he needed to be a successful reader. Although AJ had not seen his son in years, he knew how important it was to reach out to the custodial parent and share the information he and Maria received in PEP. Adults reconnected for the benefit of a 7 year old boy’s future academic success.
