The National Office of Parents for Public Schools® (PPS) is proud to announce the hiring of its new Project Manager for Mississippi, Chiquikta Fountain. Fountain returns to the National Office after her term as the Executive Director of Delta Hands for Hope.

Fountain’s career spans nearly two decades in community and family engagement, education advocacy, and organizing, with leadership roles in organizations such as AmeriCorps, the Children’s Defense Fund (SPARK), and a six-year tenure at PPS as a Parent Coach prior to leading Delta Hands for Hope.

With her wealth of knowledge, dedication to equity, and commitment to empowering families and communities, she is well-positioned to lead this important work. “I am absolutely thrilled that Chiquikta is returning to PPS in this new role,” said Joann Mickens, Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools. “Her experience and expertise will be invaluable as PPS works to build a statewide network of public education advocates. Many thanks to the Phil Hardin Foundation for the funding to make this possible.”

As the Project Manager for Mississippi, Chiquikta will be responsible for coordinating training efforts for the Mississippi network of public school advocates, strengthening partnerships with organizations committed to equity in public education, and providing supervision for PEP staff and facilitators. Concerning her new assignment with PPS, Fountain stated, “PPS has been extremely instrumental in my professional career as an advocate for public schools, children and their families and communities, so to have the opportunity to return in this capacity is very meaningful to me.  There are major obstacles that lie ahead in this work that PPS cannot tackle alone, and I look forward to the challenge in front of me and building a team of public education champions to fight alongside me.”
