JACKSON, MS – Parents for Public Schools® (PPS) is proud to announce its membership with the Evidence Advocacy Center (EAC), a new organization dedicated to transforming the education system through evidence-based resources (EBRs). The expectation is that these resources, curated by trustworthy organizations, will inform education policy and practice, and will be utilized by state departments of education, school districts, educator preparation programs, policy makers, advocacy organizations, and parent and family advocates. The establishment of EAC marks a significant step toward enhancing public education by ensuring all students, especially those from vulnerable and marginalized populations, receive an outstanding education that enables them to grow academically as well as thrive socially and emotionally.

EAC serves as a clearinghouse, connecting states, districts, schools, higher education institutions, and parent advocates to resources that have been proven to yield positive outcomes in public education. EAC is composed of nine work teams, each directed by renowned experts in education and policy. These teams will focus on compiling and disseminating evidence-based resources to support various components of the education system. PPS, represented by Executive Director Joann Mickens, will serve as a member of the Parent and Family Advocates Team. This collaboration will leverage the expertise and grassroots advocacy experience of PPS to further EAC’s mission.

Mickens states, “We at PPS welcome opportunities that promote excellence and equity in public education and that recognize the value of the parent voice in doing so. EAC and PPS have a shared commitment to educational excellence and equity. We are proud to be a part of this outstanding effort.”
